Request Deletion of Your Data

Effective 23 September 2026.

You can ask us to delete your Pocket Protect data at any time, whether you signed in with Facebook, Apple, Google, a passkey, or an email address and password. You can use this same process to request a copy of your data or to correct it.

How to make a request

1. Email accounts@pocketprotect.ai from the address associated with your account. If you signed in with Apple or Facebook using a private relay address, email us from any address and tell us which sign-in method you used, and we will verify you another way.
2. Put Deletion request in the subject line.
3. Tell us whether you want your entire account and Protection Circle deleted, or only specific submitted content or incidents.

We verify that the request genuinely comes from the account holder before acting on it. Acting on an unverified deletion request would itself be a security failure, so this step is not optional. Verification is usually a confirmation link or a signed-in confirmation in the app.

How you will know it is done

We acknowledge your request by email within 7 days. We complete verified deletion requests within 45 days, and we email you a confirmation when the deletion has run, telling you what was deleted and what, if anything, was retained and why. If we need longer, which is rare, we will tell you before the 45 days are up and explain why.

What happens, step by step

• Most submitted content is already gone. An ordinary submission is deleted automatically within 24 hours, so there is usually nothing left to remove for those.
• For an open incident, the protected person reviews exactly what will be deleted and reauthenticates to approve it.
• A seven-day recovery window then begins, during which the deletion can still be cancelled if it was a mistake.
• After that window we revoke any active share links, delete the content and everything derived from it, and schedule backup copies for expiration. Backup expiration completes within 90 days.
• Deleting your account removes your Protection Circle's dedicated database and private file storage.

What we may keep, and why

We retain a limited amount of information where the law requires it or where we have a compelling reason that your request cannot override:

• Records of transactions and tax records, for the period required by law.
• A minimal record that a deletion request was made and completed, so we can prove we honoured it.
• Security and abuse-prevention records, for a limited period.
• Information we are legally required to preserve, for example under a valid legal hold.

Anything retained is kept only for as long as the reason applies, and is then deleted.

If you used Facebook to sign in

Removing the Pocket Protect app from your Facebook account settings disconnects Facebook from your account, but it does not by itself delete the data held in Pocket Protect. To have that deleted, make a request using the steps above.
